Lead Acid Battery Recycling - Recycle your lead acid batteries any time during the year! 

     Over the past 15 years, in partnership with Crown Battery, Vita-Plate Battery and several businesses throughout Ottawa, Sandusky and Seneca Counties, the OSS Solid Waste District has provided lead acid battery collection opportunities to its residents.  In the past, this week long collection has been offered in the spring.  During this time, residents were able to recycle automotive, commercial, farm or marine lead acid batteries.

     However, this year the District has made changes to the collection.  The District has determined that outlets to dispose of lead acid batteries have increased for residents.  Local outlets include retailers, wholesale businesses, automotive repair businesses and waste haulers providing recycling services.  It has also been determined that many of these outlets accept lead acid batteries throughout the year.

     The District’s goal is to promote these lead acid battery locations throughout the year.  Residents now can properly dispose of lead acid batteries at their convenience without having to wait for a specific time, limited to one week during the year.
An additional change includes the payback received by local residents.  Any payback will be at the discretion of the individual businesses.
