The OSS Solid Waste District sponsors two
Household Hazardous Waste Collections every year, one in the spring and one in the fall.
Additional materials that will be accepted during this collection
include tennis shoes, ink cartridges, and telephone books.
2008 Collections Dates
Spring Collection:
May 3rd - 9 a.m. to Noon
Fall Collection:
September 6th - 9 a.m. to
Noon
The
collections are held simultaneously in each of the three counties:
Ottawa County - at the Ottawa County Fairgrounds on SR 163, just outside of Oak
Harbor.
Sandusky County - at the Sandusky County Health Dept. parking lot at 2000 Countryside
Drive in Fremont.
Seneca County - at the Seneca County Agriculture Service Complex, 3140 S. SR 100,
Tiffin (next to the sheriffs office.)
The following paint and
related products will be accepted during the collection in containers no smaller than a
pint and no larger than five gallons. In
addition, paint cans may be recycled with steel
if the can is empty and the
paint is completely dry.
Latex & Oil
based paint, sealers,
primers, coatings and spray aerosol paint cans
**Any
paint can that is completely dry can be disposed of in your trash. Household pesticides (bug & rodent killers),
Herbicides (weed killers), Insecticides (bug killers),
Fungicides (mold killers)
solids, liquids
and aerosols Varnish, polyurethane and
shellacs, wood stains, primers and
strippers, paint thinner, turpentine,
kerosene and lighter fluid Spray aerosol cans Household Cleaners (oven & drain cleaner &
muriatic acid)
Automotive Fluids - Antifreeze, motor oil, gasoline, kerosene Mercury solids and liquids & thermostats Bring in your old mercury fever
thermometer and exchange it for a new digital Hand-held propane cylinders Household batteries

Fluorescent Bulbs & Compact Fluorescent Bulbs

Ink Cartridges, Phone Books & Tennis Shoes - please give to OSS Solid Waste
District Staff, keep separate from materials listed
